What to Expect

Rideauview Terrace is a sub-neighbourhood of Carleton Heights in River Ward in the west-end of Ottawa. It is located just west of the Rideau Canal. Rideauview Terrace is bordered by Prince of Wales Dr to the west, Heron Dr to the south, the Rideau Canal to the east and the Central Experimental Farm to the north. It is located directly across the Rideau Canal from Carleton University.

Demographics

The neighbourhood consists of three streets: Green Valley Terrace, Fairchild Pr and Rideauview Terrace plus a few houses on Prince of Wales Dr. All the homes (except for five on Green Valley Dr) are detached houses and are relatively large and high in price. Fairchild Private and Rideauview Terrace were developed in the 1980s, Green Valley Terrace is slightly older.

Lifestyle

Residents lead active lifestyles all seasons.  In the heart of winter the Rideau Canal becomes the ‘world's longest skating rink’ with over 7 kilometers of groomed ice. Between May and September residents can partake in water sports. Dows Lake Marina has Canoes, Kayaks and Paddleboats available for rental.  Biking, rollerblading, and walking along the canal are also known pastimes.

Mooney's Bay Park is close by.  It features a beach, picnic areas, a children's playground and is the site of the Terry Fox Stadium. Located at 2960 Riverside Dr, year-round activities are available such as swimming in the waters of the Rideau River, biking along paths that can take riders as far as the downtown core, and cross country skiing.
