Coolest Pre-Construction Developments to Look Out for in 2021 in Ottawa

We’ve put together a list of our favourite cool up and coming preconstruction projects in Ottawa that are worth keeping your eye on in Ottawa this year. From Centretown, Westboro, Little Italy and a unique opportunity to own a condo in Old Ottawa South, all of these developments are located in some of Ottawa’s most sought-after neighbourhoods. James House - 390 Bank Street

James House Condo will be located at 390 & 394 Bank St in Centretown in Ottawa and replace the historic James Street Pub. The James Street Pub has been at its Bank Street location under various names for more than three decades. The development is currently in pre-construction by Urban Capital with architect Toronto's RAW Design, completion is estimated for 2023. A red-brick residential and commercial development is expected to be built. The residential part is expected to be nine stories and have 55 one-bedroom units and 73 two-bedroom units. Condos for sale at James House would include an underground garage with 64 parking spaces as well as 72 spaces for bikes. The ground floor commercial space would have about 7,000 square feet of space. The proposal also calls for a rooftop swimming pool and outdoor amenity area. The ground floor could also include a party room and a fitness facility.

Fifth and Bank - 99 Fifth Avenue

Fifth and Bank is located at 99 Fifth Avenue. Fifth and Bank is a new condominium development by Minto Apartments currently under construction and scheduled for completion in 2021.  The building will feature 163 rental only suites. The 6 storey building will be pet friendly and include studios, one bedroom and two bedroom suites. There will be indoor and outdoor parking as well as bicycle storage.

Stone Abbey -15 Aylmer Avenue

Stone Abbey, previously Southminster Condo Ottawa is currently under construction at 15 Aylmer Avenue with the completion date being unknown. Condos for sale at 15 Aylmer Avenue are expected to feature boutique condos and townhomes. The development is a collaboration with Windmill Developments and Southminster United Church. Windmill Developments has environmentally friendly standards for their projects. Condos for sale at 15 Aylmer Avenue should expect a low-rise LEED-certified building with environmentally friendly building materials, such as pre-engineered hardwood flooring, low VOC paint, and energy-efficient.

Stoney Abbey is located in Old Ottawa South. The neighbourhood is such a great place to live. Enjoy easy access to the downtown core, schools and public transit to get you anywhere in the city keeps things convenient.

Monocle - 91 Shannon Street

Monocle Condos is a preconstruction condo at 91 Shannon Street in Westboro. This development is by Ashcroft Homes and Choo Communities and completion is expected in late 2021. Architecture is being done by M. David Blakely Architect Inc. This low rise 4 storey building will feature 62 luxurious units with terraces and wrap-around balconies. Monocle Condos can be found just minutes away from Richmond Rd in the heart of Westboro.

The Residences at Island Park - 1451 Wellington Street

Welcome to The Residences at Island Park Drive located at 1451 Wellington St. This luxury development will be located in Wellington Village on the edge of Westboro, completion is estimated for Fall/Winter 2022. The developer of The Residences at Island Park Drive is Mizrahi Developments, and this is their first substantial project in the Nation’s Capital. The Residences at Island Park Drive is a 12-minute walk to the O-Trains Tunney's Pasture Station. This development is slated to stand at 14 stories tall and contains 114 residential condominium units. The development is currently under construction at the corner of Island Park and Wellington St, in Ottawa Ontario. The Architects for this project are Page & Steele IBI Group Architects. It is exciting to note that The Residences at Island Park Drive is slated to be amenity-rich. The amenities will include a concierge, parking valet, fitness retreat and swimming pool as well as an entertainment suite including living room and dining room with an adjacent catering kitchen and overnight accommodations for guests.

 

 

The Residences at Island Park Drive by Mizrahi Developments is located in the trendy neighbourhood Westboro, 10 minutes from downtown Ottawa. Westboro is easily accessed from Ottawa's Parkway or is a short drive off the 417 Queensway. It is situated North and South of Richmond Road.

Claridge Icon - 505 Preston Street

Claridge Icon is currently under construction at 505 Preston Street. This 45 storey tower is aiming to be one of the most stand-out buildings in the heart of Ottawa when its completed in July 2021. Claridge Icon will be the tallest tower in Ottawa upon its completion. Containing 320 units, this high-rise tower is currently under construction in Little Italy and completion is scheduled for 2021. Claridge Icon is being developed by Claridge Homes with architecture by Hariri Pontarini Architects. Condos for sale at Claridge Icon will range in size from 610 sq ft to 6,000 sq ft. There are a variety of floor plans available, going up to as big as 4 bedrooms, which has been rare in the Ottawa condo scene. Amenities in the building will include Party Room, Yoga & Pilates Studio, Rooftop Terrace, Theatre Room, Pool & Games Room. There will also be underground parking & storage lockers available for residents. Located at the corner of Carling Avenue and Preston Street, this is one of the most perfect locations around the downtown core. Units feature views of Dows Lake, the Rideau Canal, the Dominion Arboretum, Commissioners Park and Little Italy. It is just a 2-minute walk from the O-Train's Carling Station.
